What Vantage is built for
Vantage is a cloud cost management platform — a system of record for allocating, reporting on, and optimizing spend across AWS, Azure, GCP, and an increasingly wide AI stack. It gives finance and engineering teams budgets, cost anomaly detection, and custom alerts built from your own usage and billing data.
Where it does not cover you: the vendor changing the rules
Cost anomaly detection catches a spike after it shows up in your usage graphs — usually because your own traffic increased, or because a bill you already paid looked wrong in hindsight. Vantage, like every cloud cost tool, is built on your data. It is not built to watch OpenAI’s or Anthropic’s public pricing page for a change and warn you before that change ever reaches your invoice.
What VendorSpies does instead
VendorSpies never touches your bill, your usage, or your account with any vendor. It continuously checks the public rate cards, pricing docs, and terms pages of 30+ AI vendors and sends a free alert the moment one of them raises a price, adds a new usage tier, or quietly tightens a rate limit — before that change ever shows up as a line item.
Used together, not instead of
If you already run Vantage (or CloudZero, or any cloud cost platform) for allocation and reporting, VendorSpies fills the gap it was never designed to fill: knowing a change is coming, not just measuring it after it lands. Most teams that use both keep Vantage for spend visibility and add VendorSpies as the early-warning layer on the vendor side.
