Question 1

How much does Modal cost?

Accepted Answer

As of the latest verified sweep (10/1/2026), Modal's Nvidia H100 SXM5 tier is priced at $0.001097 per GPU-second (Nvidia H100 SXM5). That figure moves — use the calculator above to see what it means for your own usage, or add a free watch below to catch the next change.

Question 2

What are Modal's API rate limits?

Accepted Answer

Rate limits vary by account tier and model, and vendors adjust them without much notice. Paid VendorSpies accounts can see every tier we've captured for Modal in the history view above, including when a limit last changed — add a free watch on this vendor to get notified the next time it moves.

Question 3

Has Modal increased its prices recently?

Accepted Answer

No verified price change has been detected for Modal yet in VendorSpies' capture history. Check the price history and forecast panel above for the latest snapshot — VendorSpies diffs the vendor's published pricing on every sweep, so a real increase, decrease, or new tier shows up here as soon as it's verified, rather than relying on a vendor's own changelog, which providers don't always update promptly.

Question 4

Is there a cheaper alternative to Modal?

Accepted Answer

Use the comparison page to review Modal alongside other tracked vendors. VendorSpies does not claim that another provider is cheaper until the exact model, billing route, region, usage mix, and capability fit have all been reviewed.

Question 5

What happens if I hit a 429 rate-limit error on Modal?

Accepted Answer

A 429 means you've exceeded the current rate limit for your account tier on Modal — usually resolved by backing off and retrying with exponential backoff, batching requests, or requesting a tier increase from the vendor. If Modal has recently tightened its limits, that's exactly the kind of change VendorSpies tracks and alerts on.

Question 6

How do I get alerted when Modal changes its pricing or rate limits?

Accepted Answer

Add Modal to a free VendorSpies watch and we'll email you the moment a verified change is detected — no need to keep checking the vendor's page yourself. Paid plans add Slack and Microsoft Teams delivery alongside email, so the whole team sees it at once.
